Tellico Lake real estate includes Tellico Village and Rarity Bay. The lake is pretty new to the Tennessee River Valley, the dam having been built in the last 10 years. Any and all development close to the lakeshore is regulated with the utmost care to ensure the area remains pure and beautiful. Tellico Lake real estate property owners have access from four waterways that connect to the lake. There are also community, neighborhood and private docks.
The Smokey Mountains in the distance provide a stunning view for those who live in this area. Boating is one of the opportunities Tellico offers. Since it is connected to Fort Loudon Lake as well as the main stream of the Tennessee River via a canal, boaters can actually enter the river. If they follow interlinked waterways, access to 21 states is possible. They can actually cruise all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. Going the other direction will lead them to the Great Lakes.
East Tennessee is often called “the Great Lakes of the South.” The reason for this is there are seven lakes, including Tellico Lake and several rivers that are in this area of East Tennessee. If water sports are one of your main interests, you will be thrilled to visit this area of Tennessee.
The Tennessee Valley is where you will find 11,000 miles of water meeting the shore. 1,000 miles of water provides a view that seems to go on forever. There are many activities that are enjoyed here including hiking, fishing, boating, picnicking, photography and more. If you are a whitewater enthusiast, the Obed River is just 43 miles west of the city of Knoxville. Here you will find a park with 8500 acres of land along 45 miles of streams and rivers. The whitewater boater will find this is an area with a challenge for them.
Loudon County is often called the “Lakeway to the Smokies” since there are several lakes in the area including Tellico Lake. This area has several lake side parks that will allow visitors to enjoy the waterfront. There are also a large number of recreational areas at the lake for launching your boat into the water. Overnight camping is available and if fishing is on your agenda, the variety you will find here include trout, bluegill, crappie, smallmouth and largemouth just to name a few. What you catch often will depend on the time of year you are fishing.
